As in every year, before commencing the AGM, we paused to remember those who are no longer with us. However, this year the moment of remembrance was marked by a profound and heavier sadness. We paid heartfelt tribute to our beloved senior, Mr. Arpan Purkait, an esteemed alumnus of the department. He was a dedicated and respected member of the Geological Institute, he served with unwavering commitment as the Editor of Bhu-Vidya. His passion, integrity, and selfless service will continue to inspire us, and his memory will remain forever etched in our hearts.

" The world is the geologist's great puzzle-box; he stands before it like the child to whom the separate pieces of his puzzle remain a mystery till he detects their relation and sees where they fit, and then his fragments grow at once into a connected picture beneath his hand."
